When planning a wedding, especially a wedding in Chicago, there are several factors to consider, the most important of which is where you want to be married. This might seem fairly obvious, and while choosing a church or synagogue for the actual marriage ceremony is the more usual route, there are plenty of alternatives that offer a couple a chance to be creative, while also allowing for a traditional service. It’s also the perfect opportunity for a couple to bring some of their personality into their wedding. A couple that met while hiking, or it is an activity they participate in currently, should consider having a service at an outdoor venue, such as a local park. If you and your fiancée enjoy stargazing and astronomy, image how beautiful it would be to exchange vows outdoors in the evening, under the stars.
The benefit to choosing a more non-traditional site for your ceremony is that you often have the option to also have your reception at the same location. But even if you choose to get married at a church, don’t assume that your
reception has to necessarily be held at a banquet hall or hotel ballroom, as there are so many other alternatives, some you might not have even considered. Are you an art lover or perhaps an artist yourself? Many art museums have spaces available to be rented for just such an occasion, whether it is a separate banquet area in the museum or in an actual gallery. If you and your future mate enjoy drinking wine, check out some of the local wineries in the Chicago area and see if they have any space that can be used for events and receptions. With the right reception location, you’ll give all of your guests a party they’ll be sure to remember.
One of the most important features at a reception, or event of any kind, is the food you serve your guests. Depending on where you choose to have your reception, it is possible that the site will provide the food, but if you have a specific meal plan or dietary needs they aren’t able to meet, consider having an outside caterer come in. There are quite a few catering companies in Chicago to choose from, all of which can accommodate the size and theme of your wedding. If you’re not sure where to start to find the right caterer for you, ask around and see if any of your friends or family members can make a recommendation. Read the local Chicago wedding magazine for suggestions. If all else fails, you can search online by simply typing in “wedding caterers Chicago Illinois” and you’ll end up with a whole list of Windy City caterers to choose from.
Even if it’s not a wedding you are planning, but are still in need of a company to do Chicago event catering, know that many of the same companies that do wedding catering also do catering at business functions and corporate events.
